Stephen A. Shore, MD

Dr. Stephen A. Shore, MD has been a staff medical oncologist at Delaware County Memorial Hospital since 1990. Board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Shore's special interests include clinical research, lung cancer lymphoma, and gastrointestinal malignancies.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Shore grew up in Mt. Airy and Abington and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude. He earned his medical degree at Hahnemann University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Mt. Zion Hospital / University of California at San Francisco Hospital.

Dr. Shore did his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Brown University affiliated hospitals in Providence, RI. As a fellow, he participated in an extensive study of lung cancer treatment. At the annual meeting of the RI Chapter of the American College of Physicians in 1990, Dr. Shore was awarded first place for his research presentation.

Elected to be a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Shore is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Health Association and the Delaware County Medical Society. He has served on the Mercy Health Systems Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Shore is a passionate supporter of empowering his patients to be informed and active partners in the decision-making process regarding treatment. A strong proponent of treating the whole person, Dr. Shore favors a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and care.

Outside the office, Dr. Shore is an active member of his religious community and enjoys family activities with his wife, Carol, and their three children. He serves on the board of directors of the non-profit, community service oriented summer camp which he as attended and where his children are now second generation campers and counselors. An avid tennis player and Philadelphia sports fan, Dr. Shore enjoys theater and folk dance.
